Windshield Replacement

When replacing your auto glass, Westside Auto Glass follows strict guidelines.

Assess the Damage – If the windshield has a crack larger than the length of a dollar bill, Westside Auto Glass will replace the windshield with OEM quality glass or equal using adhesives recommended by the manufacturer. You can rely on Westside Auto Glass for an expert diagnosis and quality windshield replacement.

Windshield Removal – Care must be taken not to damage the “pinch weld” when extracting the damaged windshield. This holds the windshield in place. If it is damaged the new adhesive may not seal correctly, resulting in leaks and rust corrosion on the vehicle’s frame. We use the correct extraction equipment to ensure proper removal.

Finding the Right Windshield – Westside Auto Glass offers the highest quality windshield glass, restoring the vehicle to its original condition. We look at it this way if we won’t install it in our vehicle we’re not going to install it on yours. We will get the job done correctly the first time!

New Adhesive Application – An OEM quality windshield deserves OEM quality adhesive. Westside Auto Glass uses only quality adhesive by Dow, the same kind the vehicle manufacturers use. The proper adhesive is applied to the vehicle’s pinch weld and the edges of the windshield.

New Windshield Installation – One of the most important factors in installing a windshield properly is following the recommended “drive-away” time. The adhesive must be allowed to set, or “cure,” for a specific amount of time before it can be safely driven. Otherwise, the windshield may move in the pinch weld and will not properly seal to the frame. If the vehicle is in a collision the windshield could pop out, creating a greater risk for injury.

Recalibration

We don’t do recalibration, because that should only be done by the manufacturer dealership and “ONLY IF NEEDED”. Unless the camera was damaged or it’s giving you a code you shouldn’t need to recalibrated at all. If recalibration is done by a certified manufacturing technician you can void your manufacture warranty. When a new windshield is installed it will go through it own recalibration just like it does every time you start your vehicle. So unless you want to just pay someone to do a recalibration we think it should be your manufacture dealership. In all the time that these cameras have been around, we have never had to have one recalibrated.

Auto Glass FAQs

What's the difference between windshield repair and replacement?
Repairs involve a special process for applying resin to small cracks and chips in your windshield. It’s recommended that you treat small damages before they develop into larger ones. With replacement jobs, we use special, industry-approved tools to remove the entire windshield and replace it with a new one.
Where will your mobile service take place?

We service the Houston and West side surrounding areas. You choose the location either at your home, work, or a convenient location near you.

How long does auto glass replacement take?

Auto glass replacement can take between 2-3 hours, including your safe “drive-away” time. With our mobile service we’ll have you back on the road in no time.

How much will a replacement cost?

Check your Auto insurance policy to see if you have glass coverage, if so your replacement could be 100% covered. A windshield replacement costs anywhere from $200 to $1000, including labor and deductible with your insurance company, depending on the year/make/model and condition of the vehicle.

Can I do the repair work myself?

For your safety and security, do-it-yourself windshield repair and/or replacement is not recommended by the Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standards Council (AGRSSC). Some Do-It-Yourself Windshield Repair Kits can be useful, but many use sub-standard materials with poorly designed application tools and poorly written instructions. For the time and effort it takes for a do-it-yourself windshield repair job, you’d be better off leaving it to the pros. Besides we guarantee our workmanship.

If I go through insurance, won't it make my premiums go up?

No. Cracks and chips in your windshield glass are considered “no-fault,” so it won’t impact your insurance.
